New State Website Unveiled

Oklahoma's new official state website was unveiled Friday, October 12, during ceremonies at the State Capitol. Governor Keating's Secretary of Finance Tom Daxon and State Representative Fred Perry hosted the event.

The new website is a portal to link Oklahoma Internet users with state government services and information. The site is located at http://www.youroklahoma.com.

Joining Secretary Daxon and Representative Perry were other state officials and representatives of N.I.C., the vendor that created and maintains the site. Besides the announcement, live demonstrations were held followed by a news conference. For additional information, comments or questions you may contact Dan Mahoney at 405.523.4219.

I encourage you to go to this site when looking for anything that has to do with State Government. Visiting the site will increase the sites ranking on search engines like Google.

If you haven't used Google to search for something on the net then I encourage you to try it! It can be found on the left corner of the screen.

Enthusiastically,

Timothy J. Kilkenny

On The Web Legal Counsel

The real question is why turn to the Web for life-altering legal advice? The answers could be: convenience, speed, instant referrals and of course what we are all looking for, savings. "People want to feel empowered," says Nathan Gilliland, a founder of MyCounsel.com. "They want more control, and they want more information."

If you are a do-it-yourselfer and are tempted to take the law into your own hands--- going on line for info on an employment contract or an imminent divorce--- it's important that you know when to consult a professional. Martha Keller, an online lawyer, cautions people to distinguish between one-size-fits-all advice and personalized help. "The fill-in-the-blank things just don't cover every situation," she says.

If you're in need of legal assistance, here are some places that I have visited personally that you might wish to put in "favorites"

  • LawOpinion.com - For answers to specific questions where lawyers respond to queries for $39.95 a pop.

  • Lawyers.com - This site features a prescreened network of lawyers, like MyCounsel.com, so that you can look up their credentials.

  • FindLaw.com - This site offers a comprehensive compendium of information as it relates to the legal profession.

As always, we hope that this information is helpful to you, someone in your family, or a friend. We invite your comments, questions, and opinions regarding FullNews and ask that you send those to comments@fullnet.net.
