Today is:

Mother's Day trials.

Sunday is Mother's Day.  I have a mother still living in Bartlesville
Oklahoma and the mother of my children to whom I wished to send flowers.  I
hate picking up the phonebook and searching through all the fine print only
to buy something sight unseen from a florist who is close to the address I
wish to send the flowers.

As I began to thumb through the Yellow pages I noticed that some of the
florists were FTD florists and they had a web address that looked like:
http://www.ftd.com/bettylous.  This made me think that I could go to
http://www.ftd.com and find what I wanted.  The very first bouquet was
beautiful but it had a $9.99 service charge prominently displayed when you
clicked on the bouquet.  I was convinced I could find a better deal.  From
the corner of my eye before I closed the book I noticed Aimee's Florist &
Catering but there was not a website in the listing so I moved on!

The next thing I tried was going to www.google.com and searching for
florists in the South Oklahoma City or Moore Area.   One of the first sites
that came up was:
This was mildly helpful but I didn't want to call and wait on hold and buy
something I had not seen before so I moved on.

The next site that came up when I used Google was
http://www.rioroses.com/asp/okrpp.asp.  Now I thought I was on to something
because they mentioned Aimee's Florist and Catering which I noticed had an
address close to one of the moms that I wanted to send flower to. Much to my
amazement there was Aimee's Florist & Catering again with a website which is
what I wanted!  I found the bouquet that I liked entered all the necessary
information and then clicked on order.  To my chagrin I immediately noticed
that the flowers cost $10.25 more than I wanted to spend.  There was a
delivery charge of $6.95 and sales tax.  It looks like perhaps the FTD
charge was not as bad as I thought!

In summary I would like to make a few points.

1.   When you have a website makes sure that all your print and media
advertising reflects your web address and be sure that your website is in
harmony with your print and media pieces.

2.  You may safely buy things online if you are careful and be sure that the
forms where you enter your credit card information are secure.  You know it
is secure when the pad lock on your browser is locked closed and there is a
"S" in the https:// in the address of the website you are on.

3.  You do not have to buy things sight unseen anymore.  You can see what it
is supposed look like on the vendors website and then when you visit your
Mother you can see if you got your monies worth!

4.  Tell your Mother you love her this Mother's day.  Last Mother's day mine
was in a coma in the hospital.  This year she is at home and I am glad I am
able to tell her a year later how much I love and appreciate her.
