December News
Today is:

I want to give you the World for Christmas!

Rather than give a globe for Christmas. Why not give the whole world in an interactive format.

Fly from space to your neighborhood. Type in an address and zoom right in.

Search for schools, parks, restaurants, and hotels. Get driving directions.

Tilt and rotate the view to see 3D terrain and buildings.

Save and share your searches and favorites. Even add your own annotations.

Just click on the link below and use the free download of Google Earth or you can purchase the licensed version

I bet Christopher Columbus would have enjoyed this as a Christmas Present!

Do You Feel Like You Are Being Left BehindÖ

That everyone else knows the exciting news before you do? Overwhelmed by the fast-multiplying amount of content on the Web? Breathe easy: Go to http://www.digg.com to find the guidance, and relief that you are looking for.

The site, which mostly features news about the tech industry, filters stories from all over the Internet and presents them in a linear Google News-type interface. All Digg's content comes from its users, who scour news sites, blogs and other online sources for interesting tidbits.

Never heard of Digg? You may soon. The 11-month-old site already has 80,000 registered members and 500,000 daily visitors, with 100,000 visitors being added every month. Its 80,000-user base is doubling every three months. Digg's popularity is growing from its ability to prioritize content based on actual user interest rather than editorial assumptions.

Enjoy reading breaking stories before anyone else. The power of Digg arises from its incredible speed. Automated systems take time to crawl the net. Editorial systems have the human factor. They may decide they're not interested that day, or they'll do it tomorrow. With Digg there's no barrier, so the second a story starts catching the interest of the mass public, Digg breaks it.

In the words of co-founder Kevin Rose ďThe biggest benefit users see is they're able to come to Digg, read stories, and know they're reading them before they get picked up on the major news sitesĒ.

So donít be left behind, stay ahead of your family, friends and co-workers by checking out Digg today.

Got Worms?

Since the registration of the first domain in 1985 the Internet has grown and become a wealth of information and a wonderful part of our lives. The Internet has brought the world to our fingertips and made our vast planet seem smaller. With 60.7 million active registered domains it is hard to imagine that there is anything we canít research or know about.

With all the good it can place at your fingertips it is important to remember that the best communities and neighborhoods have to beware of dangers and protect against security problems. The Internet is such a community. All that the World Wide Web has to offer and all the concerns it raises in regards to your security and safety can seem overwhelming.

Fortunately there are measures you can take to protect yourself from many threats that exist and we at FullNet customer service would like to help you with that. We assist people every day with all sorts of issues and concerns. Lately a lot of those concerns include ďHow can I protect myself?Ē. So, letís talk about that.

First things first, many steps have already been taken for you. FullNet has virus and spam filtering available for our memberís e-mail to help keep you safe. In most cases this is already in place. For Microsoft Windows XP users there is already a firewall built into your system. All you have to do is turn it on. Also, there are several Internet security and virus protection software packages available for download which you can use or purchase fairly easily.

To activate Windows XPís firewall all you need to do is click on your start button then click on control panel. Inside control panel there will be an icon labeled Windows Firewall, click on it. You will see a screen that has two options, On (recommended) and Off (Not Recommended). Make sure you select On and then click OK.

While we cannot recommend one security program over another, we can cover the most popular options available out there. You should go to the web pages provided and do some comparison shopping. This month, and the next couple of newsletters, we will examine the top three contenders on the web for Internet security. We will be looking at:

1. Norton Internet Security: http://www.symantec.com/home_homeoffice/products/index.html

2. McAfee Internet Security Suite: http://us.mcafee.com

3. Zone Alarm (Labs) Security http://www.zonelabs.com/store/content/home.jsp

Here at FullNetís customer service department we experience many things that Internet security programs may affect like getting your e-mail, trying to send e-mail or even looking at web pages! This month we are going to touch on Norton Internet Security!

New Features

On-going protection keeps your computer protected from the latest Internet risks by automatically renewing your subscription at the regular subscription price (plus applicable tax).

Inspects your computer for security holes with one click*.

Detects and removes dangerous spyware, keystroke loggers, and other unwanted monitoring software*.

Some features intended to protect you can interfere with how you want to surf the web. Not to worry. Here are some tips and tricks to check if Norton security center is keeping you from operating correctly.

When opening Norton Internet Security you should see a check mark next to Personal Firewall. If you will click on Personal Firewall it will give you an option to the left to configure it. Once you click on this there will be another screen that will appear. The second tap to the right is programs (depending on your version) you will need to click on it and then you will see another page that has program controls. There will be a list of programs that have access (or not). An issue experienced at times is that Norton may block access to your Internet programs. For example, a few web browsers like Internet Explorer, Netscape or Mozilla Firefox may be blocked. Also, e-mail programs can be affected. For example, Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Outlook Express, Incredimail, Mozilla Thunderbird and Netscape. One other program that you need to make sure has access to the Internet would be the FullNet web accelerator (FullSpeed).

From this page you will need to scroll through the list of programs and make sure they have permission to access the Internet. If you are sure these are the programs that you are using to access the Internet you will need to give them permission.

The best option is to permit all. Once you have set the access you can close Norton and then you should be able to access the Internet with no problem. Sometimes it is better to restart the computer and try to get online.

We hope this helps all Norton Internet Security users to operate with better success on the Internet. Next month we will look into McAfee Internet Security Suite and then Zone Alarm (Labs) Security after that. So stay tuned and donít hesitate to call our customer service any time day or night.
