New Web Site for Wounded Veterans

Social Security has just launched a Web site with information on wounded warriors.

You should know that people serving in the armed forces who become disabled while on active duty are given expedited service. And they may be able to receive Social Security benefits even while they continue to receive their military pay.

The new Wounded Warriors site is http://www.socialsecurity.gov/woundedwarriors where you'll find information about expedited benefits, a link to their online fact sheet and even a link to apply for benefits online.

Additional benefits for veterans are listed at http://www.vba.va.gov/benefit_facts/. This page contains links to Fact Sheets that provide basic information on each of the VA's benefit programs.

We are grateful for all of the sacrifices of our veterans and their families.

Bug Me ... Bug Me Not

You're browsing the web looking for a particular article or a trial download that claims to be free ... only to discover it is not exactly free, it will cost dearly as a hassle factor.

What happens is that you click a link to an article on a site (let's say http://www.nytimes.com) but instead of getting the article you get a screen asking you to login or register. For that "free trial download" you have to fill out a registration which asks for everything but your blood type, including your e-mail and address of course.

Aside from the fact that it is such a hassle to have to do this 'umpteen' times every time you want to avail yourself of the free exchange of information - you know what the real cost is. You will now end up on countless mailing lists and even more spam campaigns that will bug you to no end!

Infuriated at the idea of pointlessly registering for yet another site just to be bombarded with unwanted material later can be seen as an invasion of privacy and more hassle than its worth. Well don't get 'ticked' off.

BugMeNot.com lets users circumvent forced registration and was created as a mechanism to quickly bypass the login of web sites that require compulsory registration and/or the collection of personal/demographic information. So go get your articles and downloads without putting up with the stress ... its easy:

STEP 1: Make a note of the website address your are trying to access. For example:

http://www.nytimes.com/cnet/CNET_2100-1024_3-5567274.html

Or even just http://www.nytimes.com

STEP 2: Visit http://bugmenot.com

STEP 3: Enter the address from step 1 into the box and press the "Get Logins" button

STEP 4: You should now be presented with at least one username and password. Make a note of them.

STEP 5: Go back to the site you were originally trying to access in step 1 and proceed to login with the username and password you noted in the previous step.

With any luck you should be able to access your article now!

Happy bug free Surfing!
