Who Called?

I live in the country so I have a satellite dish that pops up caller ID when someone calls. When at home with my wife for a quiet evening I really am not interested in sales calls for septic systems or for satellite systems I already own.

Have you ever received a call from something that just says 800 Service or Caller ID Unavailable? Do you wonder who is calling and would like to know without picking up the phone? Well, if you will write down as much as you can from the caller ID and go to whocalled.us you can figure out who called and file a report at the same time.

Enjoy your peace and quiet!

A Little Bit of Green!

Ideal Bite at idealbite.com is a Website that describes itself as "a sassier shade of green" and offers free daily tips via e-mail.

Co-founders Heather Stephenson and Jennifer Boulden realize that many people want to do something for the environment, but are frustrated with all the negative messages and are unwilling to alter their lifestyles radically for "a vague greater good". Most people need "a personal reason to make a change, and the knowledge and inspiration to follow through".

That's where Ideal Bite comes in. The site offers bite-size, practical ideas covering a broad range of topics - from what it means to be "natural", "sustainable" and "organic" to eco-pet products to saving money on your water bill - mixed with "a spoonful of incremental environmentalism" combined with a keeping-it-real attitude.

I'm Stimulated! Are You?

It is in the news on every station and it seems the topic of nearly every radio morning show for the drive into work. What is the "stimulus package" and how does it work? Will it count as income next year? Who gets it? When do I get it?

Out of the more than 300 million people in the United States it is estimated that 130 million households will be eligible to receive the much discussed and debated payment from the Economic Stimulus Act of 2008. The frustrating part is the number of "I heard this" comments and conflicting "facts" being shared and no one seeming to have the same set of instructions.

With that in mind I hit the internet thinking "How difficult can this be?" and now I know why people are so dismayed and confused. In less than 1 second a search of the net brings back no less than 5,030,000 results for 'stimulus package'.

Don't spend time clicking on all those links trying to get a straight answer. Go directly to the source. If you go to irs.gov the first thing you see dead center of the page is that the main topic is the stimulus payment.

From here you can get all the facts and even use their "Economic Stimulus Payment Calculator" to find out exactly what you can expect. You will learn that individuals earning between $3,000 and $75,000 annually will be eligible.

It boils down to a gift of $600 per adult and $300 per child if you filed tax forms before April 15th. If you chose electronic deposit you can expect disbursements on May 2nd, 9th or 16th depending on the last 2 digits of your social security number. If you did things by check there are disbursements from May 16th through mid July.

This and so much more is answered on the official I.R.S. site. So stimulate your web surfing by clicking the link and getting the real answers while the rest of the country debates the accuracy of some 5 million sites talking about it.
