"Person to Person - Satisfaction and Service are Our Business"

August News
Today is:

My heart is all a Twitter!

In running an Internet based company I am extremely sensitive to Customer Service Issues. Recently I noticed that one of the large cable companies has a Customer Service Person dedicated to watching for posts about Comcast on Twitter. So what is Twitter?

Twitter (twitter.com) is a free social networking and micro-blogging service that allows users to send updates (otherwise known as tweets) which are text-based posts of up to 140 characters in length.

Updates are displayed on the user's profile page and delivered to other users who have signed up to receive them. The sender can restrict delivery to those in his or her circle of friends (delivery to everyone being the default). Users can receive updates via the Twitter website, instant messaging, SMS, RSS, email or through an application such as Twitterrific or Facebook. For SMS, four gateway numbers are currently available: short codes for the United States, Canada, and India, as well as a United Kingdom number for international use. Several third parties offer posting and receiving updates via email.

As of July 2008, over 2,200,000 accounts were registered.

You can stay in touch with your friends and you can complain to "Corporate America" all on the same site.

Let's stay in touch!

In the Know!

We'll put it this way: Bloomberg.com is the go-to financial news service for the guys who manage your stock portfolio and the Wall Street bigwigs who manage their portfolios.

If Bloomberg.com's news and stock info is good enough for them, it's probably good enough for any savvy investor.

Welcome to Barter-Town!

Alright, we may not be like Mad Max just yet but with gas prices soaring and the changing economy we have begun to re-discover the value of good old fashion horse swapping.

We all work at our jobs and get money that we trade for other people to do their jobs. We can save time, effort and cut out the middle man by simply bartering what we have for what we need.

The first place I began noticing this trend was on Craig's list in the "barter" section oklahomacity.craigslist.org/bar. Here you begin to see lawyers trading legal work for house painting or mechanical work and things of this nature. At swaptree.com you can sign up for free to get books, music, DVDs and video games in exchange for what you have to offer. Swapthing.com has areas for "services", "things" and "skills" that people are trading. And there is even barterbee.com that trades primarily movies, games and CDs.

The point is that as in Barter Town our high tech world is making some basic low tech choices. You have something to trade? Maybe it's your skill or profession, maybe it's an item. In any case bartering what you have for what you need is making a very strong comeback.
